The Jornada Research Institute will be conducting it’s annual 2-day course on the looting and vandalism of archaeological sites on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12th and 13th. The course will be hosted by the Bureau of Reclamation Albuquerque Area Office. The course will combine classroom presentations along with a field exercise. Participants will learn to recognize profiles of looters, the signs of looting and how to conduct a field damage assessment. They will also learn the major provisions and applications of the Archaeological Resources Protection Act and other applicable antiquities laws. This course will count toward the New Mexico Historic Preservation Division’s required continuing education credits for training. Cost: 175.00, 150.00 for students. Contact JRI for more information.
