Excavations by the presenter at the Spanish Colonial presidio of Santa Cruz de Terrenate provide fresh perspectives of military life on the colonial frontier between 1775 and 1780. Translation and transcription of handwritten documents relating to the site shed new light on life in this remote post that was many thought was misplaced and which was too commonly attacked by Apaches.
