JRI Vice President and Research Associate Jeffery Hanson will be conducting a two day training class on looting and vandalism of archaeological sites and other historical properties. The training will be held at Chamizal National Memorial in El Paso, Texas. The class will combine classroom instruction and a field exercise. Topics to be covered include:
– Recognizing the signs of looting
– Understanding the basics of the Archaeological Resources Protection Act and related legislation
– learning field techniques for conducting a field damage assessment
– the use of site records in establishing data bases and looting episode chronologies
– how reality television can hinder or enhance archaeological resources protection

A minimum of 10 people are needed to make the class go, with a maximum allowed of 20 participants
The enrollment fee is 200.00 per person, although JRI members will receive a 10% discount
