By David Greenwald

On March 8th, Greenwald will be presenting on Creekside Village at the Sandia Ranger Station in Tijeras, New Mexico, for the Friends of Tijeras Pueblo at 6:30 pm. Come a little early (6:00 pm) for refreshments.

Greenwald will discuss the extent of the current investigations, recent discoveries at the site, address future research directions and provide interpretations that are supported through various field and analytical data. He will also discuss the role of great kivas at sites such as Creekside Village, address the discovery and implications of the great kiva within the context of the Tularosa Basin and adjacent areas, and offer a variety of insights into the function of Creekside Village at the regional level.

This presentation will be a good opportunity to become familiar with the Friends of Tijeras Pueblo and learn about future opportunities with Jornada Research. For those who want to participate in excavations, JRI offers opportunities that allow the novice and avocational archaeologist to work alongside and learn from professional archaeologists and other specialists.
