Jornada Research, under the direction of Michael Bletzer, has been conducting limited investigations at the Pueblo of Sevilleta, a Piro site with a 17th century Spanish component along the Camino Real. Our next planned work session will be scheduled September 19-27. Much of our focus will be on the ruins of the San Luis Obispo Mission (established ca. 1627/28, destroyed 1680/81), but other activities may be conducted as time and volunteers allow.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Michael (michael.bletzer@gmail.com) to schedule days that you wish to participate, whether it would be a single day or perhaps all nine. Space is limited; therefore, we will need to limit the number of participants to no more than 10 individuals, so sign up early to assure your spot. Due to insurance requirements, this nine day event is limited to JRI members. We are attempting to locate suitable areas to camp for either RVs or tents; more information will be made available as we get it. This is a rare opportunity to participate in some of the most important research being conducted on 17th century New Mexico outside of the main-stream research areas.
