Dear Members, Supporters and Friends

We have a few announcements to make regarding cancellation of upcoming
events/activities and other planned activities and programs, as follows:

Due primarily to the Corona virus, I am canceling all field excavations
for this coming weekend, March 21 and 22. Although we would be outdoors,
we would be somewhat confined in our excavation units and we need to be
implementing (not practicing) social distancing. At this time, I am
planning to resume our field work on April 18/19 if things have improved
nationally.

We feel that it is necessary to cancel the upcoming Tulie Talks program
for March 23rd. We will reschedule it for April 26 (Sunday evening) at
Casa de Suenos, beginning with dinner at 5:30 and the presentation at
6:30. Please make reservations at the restaurant so they have an idea of
how many to plan on and which room to make available for us. I plan to
simply move my talk planned for March to April on Great Kivas as Celestial
Observatories. We will then slide Joan Price’s talk to May 17 (Sunday).
Watch for future info regarding Joan’s presentation.

On May 12 and 13, Jeff Hanson will be offering a workshop on Looting,
Vanalism, and the Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA)at the
Bureau of Reclamation Office in Albuquerque (see attached Flyer for
address and details). Attendance of this workshop counts toward Continuing
Ed Credits for permitting for cultural resource professionals with the
State of New Mexico. Also attached is the Training Registration Form and
the syllabus. This is a two-day workshop.

Last thing, we are accepting news articles, essays, and news items for the
next JRI Newsletter. Please submit your item prior to May 31st to Jeff
Hanson (editor) and me by that time. Jeff’s email is listed above in the
cc: bar.

Thank you for understanding the changes announced herein. I hope everyone
stays safe and healthy.

Best regards, Dave
