April 28th, David Greenwald will be leading Alamogordo High School students to Creekside
where they will have an opportunity to participate in excavations. Again,
volunteer assistance is greatly appreciated. Please email me of your
interest.

May 5 and 6 there will be an open session at Creekside. This may
be the last opportunity to work at the site before it gets really hot,
although I plan to work through most of the summer. Again, please let me
know if you are interested in participating. David’s plans are to finish the
south half of Feature 11 and maybe the south half of Feature 37, the two pit
houses. Let’s meet at 8:00 AM at the wye in Tulie.

On May 12th, David will be leading the Native Plant Society to Creekside to show them
the irrigation systems and agricultural field terraces. We will also visit
the reservoir area.

May 26 and 27 there will be another open field session at Creekside. If you have
not been to the site lately, we have a lot exposed (profiles of the ditches,
exposures of the field terraces, 2 pit houses nearly half excavated, and the
kiva sits idle waiting for eager excavators. Please RSVP if you want to
participate. Again, let’s meet at the wye in Tulie at 8 AM.

David is also planning a visit to Waterhole Canyon to view the pictographs and
examine the site for any recent signs of disturbance. This will probably be
scheduled in early June. It’s a long hike with about 1/2 mile of steep
(game) trail to get down to and up from the overhang. Lots of brush, so wear
long pants and sturdy shoes for this one
